Think Media- How to Quit Your Job and Go Full Time on YouTube

KNOW THIS:

"Success on YouTube is found when you use your experience, passion and skill to add real value to the lives of others."

DO THIS:

Step One: Start (duh)
1. Start with the end in mind. Work really hard and be disciplined.
2. Figure out if there's a market for your topic and if you can monetize it.
3. Get a BJ (aka bridge job) to support yourself while you grow.

Step Two: Skill Up
1. Master your subject -- and actually how to make decent videos.
2. Be obsessed. Practice. The more you work on it, the sooner you'll get better at it.
3. Invest in yourself. Courses, books, events, BIZZIE (!!).
4. Volunteer somewhere where you can soak up some new skills: technical, relational, leadership.

"Formal education will make you a living. Self-education will make you a fortune." -Jim Rohn

Step Three: Synergize Your Schedule
1. Align your job, hobbies, volunteering and free time with your end goal: full time YouTuber status.
2. Get around the right people and be in the right places (networking events, etc.).
3. Start an interview show.
4. Freelance in your niche.
5. Work for free. Use your BJ to keep you afloat.
6. Relocate if you need to to get closer to the people and events that'll level you up.

Step Four: Smart Systems
1. Batch your content. Create a "show" schedule that's sustainable. Figure out how much time you can realistically devote to YouTube and do as much as you can in those hours.
2. Make videos that'll rank
3. Be realistic and embrace life's seasons.
4. Don't try doing too many side projects at once. Just do one thing. Cut off any projects or people that are holding you back.
5. Post one really good video a week. Only use social to support your channel. Scrap distractions.

"If you dabble everywhere, you dominate nowhere."

Step Five: Sweet Spot
1. Narrow your niche. Serve a specific audience.
2. Audience > Competitors. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing, just worry about your audience.

"If you want to become known, you've got to be known for one thing."

Step Six: Side Income Streams
1. Start with YouTube + affiliate marketing (we added some links to get you started in the members block below). The first dollar you make online is your proof of concept
2. Turn streams into rivers.
3. Momentum and compound effort lead to bigger opportunities.

Step Seven- Step Out
1. Figure out how much $$ you need to live on.
2. Reduce your overhead and downsize if you need to.
3. Apply the 25% rule: when you hit 25% of your monthly goal, that's when you go full time.
